The Armchair Treasure Hunt Club
Club Event September 2012

The following pictures are all from the location of the treasure token in Terrace Gardens

The treasure map, designed by Phil. The teams got this map once they had solved all the necessary previous tasks.

A quiet corner of Terrace Gardens.

The teams got a treasure map (once they had solved all the previous clues), and the map had all sorts of visual clues relating to benches, trees and other objects in the gardens.

This lime tree is where the paths diverge, just below the steps down from Cardigan Gate.

More of the lime tree.

The kleptomaniac rodent.

The Spring Well with the Tea Clipper clue.

The gate to the well, which is dry nowadays.

Path towards the Spring Well.

View from the Summerhouse, which is just outside the woodland area.

The manicured part of Terrace Gardens.

The 7 posts with nature related pictures, all used as markers on the treasure map.

The rosehips were the closest post to the treasure, that's why we had them as a "special" marker.

The "Big Metal Mollusc Model".

This is the loggery, which has three separate log parts.

Looking towards the bat marker and Spring Well (right path).

The swamp cypress is the only tree in the conifer group which has a tag. Couldn't resist using Shrek as a marker for this one, and a map of Cyprus on

The yew tree (a green sheep on the map) which was the location of the treasure token.

The pendant was on top of the t-shaped branch (wooden T inside the green sheep, with a red X on top).

View from the yew towards the snail.

Conifers and benches again.

View from sign for spring well to the conifers.

Snail and ginkgo tree.

This was taken a week before the event. Everything had been strimmed.

A few weeks earlier there was some tall grass at least.

The "dead smiley" on the map.

Ginkgo leaves. (It's a conifer, too)

In May the less travelled path looked like this, but now it is hardly overgrown at all.

The teams had to find pouches with small stones in our garden. Each pouch included a card with the names of the stones, and some letters were in red.

These were the small treasures (I changed the grouping after this photo was taken).

The main prize: a crystal geode sphere, and a base hand made by club member Phil.

The small treasures, just before they were hidden in plants.

The token for the main prize, which was hidden in the yew tree. Club member Annika brought the pendant all the way from Finland.

The other main prize: a squirrel door stop from Ulster Weavers.
